Exercise bikes are a great way to get in shape

Most people have learned how to ride a bike and did so because it was fun. Using exercise bikes is just as fun and the rewards are greater. Exercise bikes are a valuable part of your fitness program.

Cycling is a great workout except the conditions are not always preferable outside. An exercise bike will give the same physical workout from a stationary position indoors. Choose a time that will allow regular workouts and make this part of your daily schedule. If you have a television program you always watch, this would be a great time to ride your bike. That way it fits into your schedule and you are more likely to maintain a regular schedule for fitness.

There are three basic types of exercise bikes to choose from so be sure to get the right one for you. Most have an adjustable seat, LCD display, speed, time, distance and even calorie information. The recumbent cycles reduce the stress on your lower back, allowing you to sit with your arms and hands free. The upright cycle is the same as a traditional bicycle without the wheels. The dual-action machines are upright with moving handlebars. These provide resistance to exercise your arms, shoulders and chest. All three types range from simple manual models to elaborate models so choose what fits your budget.
