Be sure to do basic stretching exercises before any workout

All stretching exercises may not be good for you so be sure you know what part of your body you are working on and how flexible you are at the time. If you have disabilities of any kind you need to take these in consideration when doing stretching exercises.

The purpose of stretching exercises is to warm up your heart and blood flow, open up your lungs, and ease your muscles into action. If you start right in to a rigorous workout without stretching you are likely to get cramps or spasms. Even a little deep breathing is a good basic before a workout.

Start your stretching exercises with very easy motions. Lift your foot up on a step or stool and lean forward towards your foot. You could grasp your foot with your hands and pull forward if this feels more comfortable. Change feet and repeat, doing this about 10 times for each foot. Lift your leg backwards and pull with your hand, again do this 10 times with each leg. Remember, easy slow startup to get your body muscles and juices flowing.
